About The Area (Our Playground!)

The Rangeley Region is located in the beautiful Western Mountains of Maine and contains an abundance of forestland, wildlife, and pristine lakes, rivers, and streams.  It has long been known as a mecca for the outdoor enthusiast.  Many recreational opportunities exist and revolve around the changing of the seasons such as hunting in the Fall, skiing and
snowmobiling in the Winter, and hiking, biking, boating, and fishing in the Spring and Summer.

Fishing was the original draw to the area and in the early 1860’s huge native Brook Trout were discovered to swim
throughout its many waters. Fly fishing was the preferred and most accepted means of catching these speckled
beauties.  Over the years the places that these special fish inhabited and the people who frequented
them became the source of legend and lore that made the area famous.

Today Rangeley’s fly fishing tradition continues and the big native Brookies are still plentiful throughout
its waters along with wild Landlocked Salmon.  Many an anglers dreams are realized and
fulfilled after a visit to the famed Rangeley Region of Maine.
